Birthday Monkey!

Here is another birthday card I made this week.  I made this for the All That Scraps challenge and another card for the Simon Says challenge.  The All That Scraps challenge this week was Anything Goes but you have to use a stamp from the All That Scraps store.  This cute little guy is "Birthday Monkey" by C.C. Designs.  The Simon Says challenge this week is paper piecing, and I paper pieced the cupcake and used some diamond stickles on the frosting.

I stamped the image with memento espresso truffle and coloured it with copics (E21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 71, 79, - R22, 24 & N1.  I used the out of the box technique to cut out the image with spellbinders large & small labels (as well as all the mats).  I edged all the pieces with jumbo java versa magic ink. It is really hard to tell in the picture but I covered cherry with rose stardust pen and as mentioned above diamond stickles on the frosting.  The patterned paper on the main part of the card is from Three Bugs in a Rug, the paper on the cupcake is from My Mind's Eye & Basic Grey.  The greeting is from "Flourishes" tag line stamp set and is stamped with the same ink I used for the main image.  I used 3 different coloured rhinestones (pink, blue & green) to pick up the different colours in the paper.

Well that's it for tonight, I'll be back in a couple of days with another card. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Thinking Outside the Box....

....or Oval....

So I'm still working on inking up new stamps and using them for new card designs,  As mentioned in my previous post.  I've even been working on a stamp catalogue so it is easier to figure out what stamps I have without having to look through every single package.  It actually helped a lot with this project... when I was looking for the greeting to use on this card.

I actually looked up some challenges and made a card that would work for 3 different challenges!!!
Kraftin' Kimmie  - A Trio of Embellishments
Altered Alice - We're All Mad Here, So Anything Goes!!!
Simon Says Stamp - Let's Get Paper Piecing

I started by inking up the Red Queen from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps and colored her with copic markers (E0000, 000, 01, 02, 21, 23, 25 - R20, 22, 24, 27, 29 - N0, 1, 3 & BG0000) and then added a few touches with memento marker rhubarb stalk and stardust pens clear star & red star.  I have been trying to use my red copics more as I need to practice with them. I usually make a mess with them and have to start over.  This one turned out OK, so I was quite happy.  I decided to paper piece the decorative strip on her skirt and her crown.  I used patterned paper from the "swoon" line by Little Yellow Bicycle.
I took this picture at an angle to try and catch the glitter from the stardust pens.  It looks a little messy in the photo but not in person.  I wanted to cut this out with an oval and mat it with a couple of layers.  However the width of the stamp at the bottom posed a problem.  I decided to go with the "outside the box" technique and have the bottom of her dress outside the oval. Then cut a couple of regular ovals to mat the image with.  I took a picture of it so you could see what it looked like without the mats.

I cut mats out in black and red and then decided to use more patterned paper from the LYB "swoon" paper pack for the background.  The paper had sort of a wall paper feel to it with a nice white trim at the bottom but looked kind of plain at the top.  I added a little detail with memento London fog ink and a swirl stamp from the basic grey "flourish corners" stamp set. I cut (cricut - George & basic shapes cartridge) hearts out of the same patterned paper I used on her dress.   The "Love" & "Forever" stamps are from Crafty Secrets stamp sets "mini memories" & "Cherish" the "you" stamp is from the Technique Tuesday "talking in circles" stamp set. I colored the rhinestones with copic R89.

I used 3 hearts and rhinestones in groupings of three for the "trio challenge", but I usually do groupings of three - I just think it looks more balance that way. I love paper piecing - see my Kraftin' Kimmie challenge card from a couple of weeks ago.  I really like how she looks like she is about to step through an archway or perhaps the looking glass!

Well I guess that's it for this post.  I hope to be back with another card in a day or two.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend everyone!

Artemis!!!

So I know it has been just over a week since my last post but I haven't forgotten about updating it....I will be doing that tomorrow.  I had a few things come up this week and just haven't had the chance.  I did get another couple of cards made this week and will post them later.  I really wanted to take part in the Kraftin' Kimmie guest challenge so I am going to post that card today.

For this challenge it was pretty much anything goes but, you did have to use a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp of your choice and some sort of metallic embellishment, paper or colour.  Well since I do have lots of Kimmie stamps it was a challenge to decide which one to use.  I decided to make my DH's Valentine's day card for this challenge.  I coloured Artemis with copics (will post colour list as soon as I find it in the mess on my desk...LOL).  I added a bit of red stardust pen to her hair piece but it doesn't show up in the picture.  I decided to go with a pewter metallic colour and used papers that picked up on both the red and pewter,  they are from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 3 "Ruby" collection.  I then added a few pewter brads and a pewter heart charm.  I edged all the pieces with red versa magic chalk ink and popped the main image up using 3d dots.

Update (Jan 21/13) ... Ok I  cleaned up my desk and found the elusive copic colour list...I really must learn to always have my notebook handy.  Anyway here is the list for Artemis (E000, 00, 01 - R 20, 22, 24, 27, 29 - Y21, 23, 26 - B000 - E71, 74, 77 & 79).  I am also trying to use a variety of patterned papers on projects. I have so much patterned paper and I really need to use some of it up. My other goal is to ink up all my new stamps and use them for projects...with the amount of new stamps I have I'm going to be very busy.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week everyone!!!

Animal House

Well I have a house that is ruled by an animal...a really cute adorable fuzzy one...so it's all good.  I am going to put this post up quickly and then add the details later.  I am running way behind and I have about 20mins until this weeks challenge closes over at Kraftin Kimmie!

Here is the card I made using Jayne cuddling with her cat.  Kit loves to sit on my shoulder so this reminds me of her.

Update (Jan 21/13)...Sooo it took me a little longer to get this update posted but I found my notebook (finally!) and here are the details for this card.  The patterned paper is an old Marah Johnson paper from Creative Imaginations!  I stamped the image with memento tuxedo black ink and coloured the image with copic markers and did some paper piecing for the dress.  The copic colours I used are as follows  E000, 00, 01, 13, 21, 23, 25 - W1, 2, 4, 6 - R20, 17 &35.  The patterned paper for the dress is the reverse side of the background paper.  I cut the image and mat out with spellbinders large and small petite ovals and I edged the papers with versa magic red brick and midnight black chalk inks.

OK!  Here it is ...I'll be back later to update this post.

What's New?

Well I really wanted to post all this info when it happened but I totally ran out of time over the Holidays!!! I always think I'll be able to get things done with lots of time to spare...I never do LOL!!! I was up until 3:00am on Christmas Eve (well Christmas morning technically) finishing my DH's present (as usual).  I make him a calendar every year and every year it gets finished in the wee hours of Christmas morning.  I really need to start this project in November or something LOL.  Anyway, I haven't had any time to spend in my studio since then...everything in there is how I left it on Christmas morning...a mess!!!

The main things I wanted to post on my blog in December are as follows:

I got a message on my blog around the first of December from a local shop owner expressing an interest in my cards.  She had seen them at La Lucy and wanted to know if I could make some for her shop as well. So I was super excited to have my cards in a new shop for Christmas.

I was also very excited to see that I was featured as a Customer Show N' Tell on the All That Scrap's Blog!

This is a picture of some of the new goodies I bought in December.  I picked up some more Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, of course, card stock, glue refills and patterned paper.
Here is a picture of the fun stuff I got for Christmas.  My wonderful DH bought me the limited edition Copic marker set!!!(hooray!!!) and my sister in law & family got me all these Kraftin' Kimmie stamps!

Well I guess that about sums it up for now!  I guess my next step is to clean up my studio and get back to work on some new cards and challenges!  Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had an excellent holiday season, mine was wonderful but very busy.  I really planned on posting more during the holidays but I just didn't have time.  I have a lot to post over the next little while to catch up on everything that I didn't get a chance to post over the holidays.

To start here is the card I made for the The Simon Says Stamp .... Anything Goes challenge...I will have to post the rest of the information for the card later. The stamp is "reindeer lights" from C.C. Designs and the greeting is from Bombshell stamps. I coloured the image with copic markers (will post colour list later).
Update:  Here are the copic colours I used for this card (E21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 43 - R24, 27 - G82, 85 - Y35, 38 & W2), I also used a glaze pen on his nose and the lights.  The patterned paper is from Kaiser Kraft.  I stamped the greeting with memento rhubarb stalk ink and also used it for edging the paper.  I coloured the rhinestones and brads with copic R89.  I used spellbinders large & small labels to cut out the image and mat.

I will be back later with more details and updates to what I have been busy with lately.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a very wonderful, happy & healthy 2013.

Favorites!!!

So what are your favorites?   When it comes to my craft supplies I have way too many.  So when I found the challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog it was a little hard to decide.  I finally went with my favorite Christmas stamp...I bought this one about 4 years ago and I use it every year for several different cards.
The stamp is called Santa Collage by Rubber Stampede.  I also love the embossing folder I used for this card - "Splendid" M-Bossabilities by Spellbinders.  Copics (E00, 01, 02 & N1) are another one of my favorites.  For this card I stamped Santa and colored him with the above copics and then used a glue pen and glitter on his beard, hat and snowflakes (they don't really show up in the picture) and I used a clear glaze pen on his glasses.  I edged the papers with brilliance gold and memento rhubarb stalk ink.  The greeting is from stampin up and I colored some tiny pearls with copic marker Y38 and stuck them in the middle of a few of the flowers ( I think they look like little poinsettias).

Well that's it for tonight.  I should have a couple more cards to post before Christmas.  I actually have most of my shopping done now and only have a few last minute things to pick up.  We actually started shopping late but managed to finish most of it up ahead of schedule.  Have a wonderful day everyone and thanks for stopping by

Eira!

I got to spend a lot of time working in my studio this last week (more about that in my next post).  I wanted to make a few more cards with my C.C. Designs stamps I bought a few months ago (they are just too cute). So I popped over to the All That Scraps Challenge blog to see what their challenge was this week.  I was quite happy to see that the challenge for this week is clean & simple.  I tried to keep this one as simple as possible but I did use lots of glitter.

I used the Eira stamp (love this one) and colored her with copic markers (BG10, 11, 15, 13 - E000, 00, 01, 21, 23, 25, 27 - R20 & memento marker - lady bug).  I used a glitter pen on her belt and a glue pen and glitter on parts of her dress.  I put some sookwang tape on white cardstock and cut it out with the MFT let it snowflake die and then covered them with transparent micro fine warm highlight glitter.  I layered them with some snowflakes I cut out of the same patterned paper I used for the background (Bo Bunny Snowfall) and finished them off with a couple of rhinestones.  I used a spellbinders petite oval die to cut her out (using the out of the box technique) and a petite scalloped oval for a mat.

I have some more cards to share over the next few days.  I will post them as soon as possible.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great week everyone!

Blooming Poinsettia!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful December so far! I finally got a little bit of shopping done but I still have a lot to do.  So this is going to be a quick post tonight.  The picture of this card is a little wonky but I think you will be able to get the idea.

I embossed the gold metallic paper with the spellbinders "splendid" m-bossabilities folder.  I used the "blooming poinsettia" die from poppy stamps to make the poinsettia.  I added a little red flower to the middle under the gold berries.  The ovals were cut out using spellbinders petite ovals large and small.  The greeting stamp is from the inkadinkado stamp set "village lifestyle" set and I used memento "rhubarb stalk".  I edged most of the pieces with brilliance galaxy gold and aged mahogany distress ink.  The rhinestones were colored with copic marker R89.

I hope to be back tomorrow night with another post.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend everyone.

All Spruced Up!

At least my place is getting that way.  I got a small tree this year (artificial) and decided to put it up...and so far Kit is ignoring it (hooray) and I did manage to get some other decorations up as well.  I have also been on a mission to reorganize my craft studio.  It becomes an absolute disaster area when I get in there and work.  I also have trouble finding things and keep forgetting to use certain embellishments because they are hidden and I don't think of them.

I did do a little bit of crafting this week and I decided to make a card for the Simon Says Challenge.  This one was easy as it is a "anything goes" challenge.  Here is the card I made with one of the new Christmas stamps I got a few weeks ago.  The stamp is called "Getting Spruced Up" from High Hopes stamps, I just love this guy.  I colored it with copic markers (G40, 82, 85 - YR04, 07 - R22, 24, 27 29 - E23, 25, 27 - N3, 5, 7 - Y35, 38 & BG10) and embellished it with clear glaze pen, clear stardust pen and diamond stickles.  The greeting is from a Kaiser craft stamp set and I used lady bug memento ink.  The patterned paper is from the Bo Bunny "Mistletoe" collection.
Well that's it for tonight.  I can't believe we are already into December and I haven't even started my Christmas shopping.  I guess I better get busy and get to work!  I hope to be able to keep posting at least a couple of times a week but it might not be possible.  Take care and have a great weekend everyone.

Lace Tree

Ok so this is a card I've made before and I like it because it is very clean and simple.  No greeting so it can be used for whatever you want during the holidays.  I like making this one because it is something I can do while watching TV LOL!

I embossed the tree using the cuttlebug lace tree folder and then colored it with sakura clear stardust pen and  then I accent it with whatever color stardust pen I want to match the paper I plan on using as a mat.  For the first one I used sky star pen and the second one I used red star pen.  I then colored a rhinestone to match with a copic marker (R89, BG75) and popped it in the middle for a little more sparkle.  It is really hard to tell what it looks like in the pictures.  I tried to get a close up of the shine, it kind of worked LOL!

Well I finally get a chance to spend a couple of hours in my studio today so I'm off to do a couple of challenges.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Blue Christmas...

...card! It has been a long day but I do have a wee bit of time to update my blog now.  I love my new MFT "let it snowflake" die set and decided to use some more snowflakes on this card.  They make great embellishments for Christmas cards.

For this card I cut the ovals out with spellbinders petite large and small ovals.  I stamped the Merry Christmas greeting (Kaiser Craft - Turtle Dove stamp set) with memento "teal zeal" ink and colored it with memento markers rhubarb stalk and cottage ivy.  I also added some sakura clear stardust pen for a little sparkle.  I used white perfect pearls and diamond stickles on the snowflakes and then inked some of them with the teal zeal ink.  The paper is an old paper called starry starry night by GCD studios (2008).  I'm really trying to use up some of my older papers.
Well that's it for tonight, thanks for stopping by.  I may be back tomorrow with another post.  I think I may even have a chance to spend a few hours in my studio tomorrow.

Crazy Couple of Weeks!!!

I have been so busy the last couple of weeks that I haven't had a chance to post!!! I have been busy making cards though!  I got about 30 cards made since my last post and here is a picture of the result.
So over the next couple of weeks I will slowly post some of these with information about them.  Some of the cards are duplicates of older cards I made so I won't bother with those.  I will also try to do some more challenges each week and post those as well.  Of course I will be making lots more Christmas too!.

For today I am going to post a couple of cards I made with the new High Hopes Christmas Joy Snowy stamp.  I used the same layout and paper for each but one I colored with water color pencils and the other I colored with copic markers.  The patterned paper is an old one from Kaiser Kraft and I cut the snowflakes out with MFT Let it Snowflake die set and I colored the rhinestones with copic marker R89.   I stamped the image for the water color image with archival ink and used derwent water color pencils (crimson lake, turquoise green, silver grey, naples yellow, olive green & orange chrome).  I blended them all out with an aqua brush and went over the berries with sakura red star and clear glaze pens.  I also used some Christmas red stickles on his jacket (looks a little weird in the picture but looks nice in person).  I used spellbinders petite ovals large and small to cut out the image and the mats.
For this image I used copic markers (R24, 27, 29 - N0, 1, 3, 5 - YG91, 93, 95 -BG10, YR07 & Y35) and I used sakura red star pen on his jacket and berries and a clear star dust pen on his star buttons (shows up funny in picture). The stardust pens look really nice in person but weird in pictures, I use them quite a bit to embellish images.
Well that's it for tonight I have another busy day tomorrow. I plan on posting another card tomorrow night, I hope I have time :).  Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
