Glitter Santa

I made this card last year and decided to redo it a bit this year. I changed the card base to red and the greeting is on an oval this year. Santa stamp is by Rubber Stampede (Delta). I colored his face with Prisma markers. I then used a glue pen to add glitter to rest of image (glitter ritz microfine transparent warm highlight). I also used diamond glaze on his glasses.

I borrowed this stamp from a friend so I have no idea who it is by. I stamped a bunch out and gave the stamp back to her. I used my aqua brush and stampin' up inks to paint the image in. The patterned paper is called Yuletide from the Oh Joy line by Cosmo Cricket. I'm not sure of cardstock color. The Joy stamp is from Inkadinkado. I also used a sakura clear glaze pen over the berries to make them stand out a bit more.

Even More Christmas Cards :)

Instead of just making more of the same (which would be much easier and less time consuming). I seem to keep trying to design some more cards. I picked up this Tree stamp the other day and have been trying many different styles of cards with it. This one is my favorite. Nice and simple, the tree stamp is by Inkadinkado and the greeting on the bottom is by Stampin' up. It is done on gold metallic bazzill paper and Crimson bazzill cardstock. I stamped the tree & the greeting with versa mark ink and then used stampendous detail gold embossing powder.
The next card was done using my Cricut machine to cut out this cute snowman. I placed some of sookwang double sided tape on a piece of thin paper and cut the snowman out with my doodlecharms cricut cartridge. I then removed the tape backing and covered him with white fun flock. I used some orange ribbon for his scarf. The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye Colorful Christmas Falling Flakes and the Bazzill cardstock is Butterfly and Sour Apple. The Merry Christmas stamp is by In The Making.

More Christmas Cards

Here are a few more of the Christmas cards I have been working on lately. I've been slow about getting the pictures on the blog. It seems lately that the days are just flying by. The first card is one I did using a stamp from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set by Stampin' Up. I love this stamp and learned this technique a couple of years ago from my friend Marie (her cards are amazing). I stamped the trees and just simply traced over them with a glue pen and then sprinkled them with the microfine transparent warm highlight glitter (that's the part Marie taught me :)). I switched it up a bit though this year, because I have become addicted to using the fun flock. I used the glue pen and added some white fun flock to the ground here and there for more texture. It is really hard to see the glitter & fun flock in the pictures. In person the card is very sparkly and you can really notice the flock a lot more. I also traced over the Joy greeting with the glue and added glitter to it. The patterned paper is from last years Basic Grey Christmas line and the Joy stamp is by Inkadinkado. I stamped the image and greeting with Momento Rich Cocoa and the card stock is bazzill Bitter Chocolate. For the next card I used the cuttlebug Lace Tree embossing plate and flipped it over so the indented side is facing up. I don't know the color name of this paper (it is a light green bazzill bling paper) and the red paper is a bazzill metallic paper. I colored the tree in with the star dust pen again and added accents with a red glitter pen. My pictures did not turn out very well this time. It looks much better in person. For this last card I used the Glitter Ritz glitter and some double sided tape to do the glitter blue background but, instead of using white glitter for the snowflakes I used white fun flock instead. It works quite well and it gives more texture to the card. I also stamped snowflakes on the blue card stock with versa mark ink.

Scrapbook Wallet

I found a great new project over at Splitcoast Stampers. Here is the link, it is called a Scrapbook Wallet , (all the instructions are there as well as a great video tutorial). I thought is was so cool, I just had to try it. I changed mine up a bit. I changed the size of the pieces so that the side pieces measure 6"x6" and then changed the rest to adjust for the new size. This way you can do the base with only 3 sheets of 12"x12" card stock. I then used a lot more to decorate it, LOL. Kit seemed to really like it too. Here are a few pics of mine. I used 3 different colors of Bazzill card stock Parakeet, Starmist & White. The patterned paper is called Alpine, it is from the new Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses line. The die cut was done on my cricut using the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. I then colored parts of it with my Sakura Stardust Pen.

Creative Chaos!

I finally started working on my Christmas cards last week. I usually make quite a mess when I am trying different ideas and techniques. I really didn't realize what a mess I had made until I got up to get something in the other room and came back to my desk. I had to take a picture, it was so messy even Kit wouldn't attempt to get on there. I did manage to design some cards out of all this mess though. I will post them over the next week or so. The first one, which I have made a few different versions of is done with the Lace Tree cuttlebug folder. I embossed it and then colored it with the Stardust Gel Pen from Sakura. It is very basic but does take some time to color it. I added a small rhinestone when i was finished.

August Page Challenge

Every month we have a Scrapbook page challenge at Scrap Arts . The challenge for August was
Only One Black & White photo
Only One Patterned Paper
Only One 3D element
Hand written journaling

This was really a challenge for me. I'm not great at Scrapbooking to begin with, I prefer cards. I found this picture of my grandmother and decided it would be great for this challenge. I usually like more pictures on a page. When it is just one I have trouble filling the space. I stamped some green flourishes on the green card stock, they are hard to see but they are there. I used my Alphalicious Cricut Cartridge for the lettering. The journaling was handwritten, but I blocked it out for the picture. I used my Fiskars "Elegance" edge punch on the patterned paper. The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Porcelain line.

The challenge page for October is due by the 31st. I haven't even started it yet. It should be much easier for me though. I can use more than 1 photo in it LOL. The rules for this months challenge are

  • 1-3 vintage photos
  • stamping
  • inking
  • one distressing element
  • hidden journaling

I'll post it once it is finished.

Sneak Attack

I just love this Dragon stamp by Stamps Happen, Inc. The image is so big it just barely fits on a regular size card (4"x5 1/2") doesn't leave much space for anything else. I colored the image with my Prisma markers and then used my glitter gel pen on the wings.

That poor unsuspecting ribbon is about to get pounced on by a Kitten!!!

An upset Kit?

She does look upset, like whatever she was looking for wasn't in the box. However, she is just yawning because she got tired trying to destroy all my work. LOL

Vintage Postcard kit from Crafty Secrets

I finally had some time a few weeks ago to sit down and play with one of the Vintage Postcard Kits from Crafty Secrets. I of course decided on the Halloween one. My favorite time of year. Although it comes with a great stamp set included, I decided to use some of my other Halloween stamps. The kit comes with six postcards and six images to decorate them with and 12 little chipboard shapes with 12 images as well. I chose this cute cat image for the front, I punched extra holes along bottom with my cropadile and set in some black eyelets & attached the chipboard shapes with thin black craft wire. I edged all the sides with black chalk ink & added some orange ribbon with a web pattern as well as some black satin ribbon.
On the back side I inked it up with some blue inks and stamped with a spider web stamp from Inkadinkado. I stamped the spider with black ink and then covered him with fun flock, I also covered the backs of 2 of the chipboard shapes with black fun flock. I stamped the Happy Halloween with Silver ink.

Last but not least...

I actually finished this about a month ago but forgot to post it. The final card for my Fall card class. People really like this set of 4 cards so I am offering the class again on Nov 1st @ Scrap Arts . The rest of the samples are already posted

An Unimpressed Kit

Kit has decided she can be a lap cat....but only if I'm crafting or on the phone. Lately, when I'm crafting she thinks it's a great time to cuddle and sit on my lap. I had my camera beside me the other day when she did this, so I manged to get a pic. You can see by the absolute disaster on my desk that I was quite busy (that or a tornado just went through). Anyway, she looks thoroughly unimpressed with what I was doing. LOL.

Busy, Busy, Busy...

Dee! So many cards to make, so little time. I have been having lots of fun this last week making cards. New stamps to play with and some old ones I haven't used in awhile. Here are some pictures with a few of the details. The first one is a simple black and white. I used Momento Tuxedo Black on white card stock. The background stamp is from Crafty Secrets stamp set "Hardware".

The surfboard card is done using a stamp from Local King called "Oops". I colored the image using Prisma Markers, added a few highlights with glitter & white gel pens. I used Sienna Bazzill card stock & the pp is from Reminisce called "Coastal Passion".

The Robot card was done using another stamp from the Sandy Lion Boy Clear Stamp Package. Colored with my Prisma's and then covered with Versa Mark and clear fine detail embossing powder to make it shiny. Bazzill Jacaranda & Sugar Cookie card stock, dsp paper from Crate Paper Orbit line called "playtime"

Wolf card is done with "The Wolf" stamp set from Local King. It is stamped on glossy white card stock with tuxedo black Momento Ink & colored with momento markers. The card stock is Bazzill Parakeet & Raven. The paw prints in background were stamped with Momento new sprout ink.

Autumn Elegance Card Class

I have been busy creating samples for a new class. I will be teaching this class in October at Scrap Arts. I don't have dates and times yet, I will post them as soon as I know. Here are 3 of the 4 cards we will be making. I will post fourth sample soon.

Fun with Fun Flock

Ok I'm totally hooked on the fun flock at the moment. I have been stamping out tons of images so I can use the fun flock on them. My favorite so far is the Lion stamp from a set I got awhile ago. It is from Sandylion and called Boy Clear Stamp Package. I love the way the lion turned out.

I stamped the image with Momento Rich Cocoa, colored the face and body with Momento marker Desert Sand. I used Chocolate Lotto fun flock on his mane, nose and tip of his tail. The leaf stamp is from the Dino set by Basic Grey and I stamped it in 3 different greens. Momento new sprout, pear tart and bamboo leaves. Kit likes to help with this process as well. She loves to watch me color the images. She tends to get her nose in the way.

Almost September Already...

Where did the summer go? I had hoped to get some more projects done this summer, but it just didn't happen. I am planning to get a lot more done in the next few weeks. We'll see if that actually happens though, LOL. I am really inspired by all the great new products we've been getting in at Scrap Arts , paper, inks, embellishments, stamps, fun flock etc...

I vowed to stay away from the Fun Flock because I just didn't need yet another embellishment to add to my cards. However, I used it for a make & take at the store and that was that. I taught a bunch of our customers how to use it and then decided I must have a bunch as well. So look for some samples with the Fun Flock soon.
I am teaching 2 classes at Scrap Arts in September

The first is "Stamping 101"
Sunday September 6th 1:00pm-3:00pm
Tuesday September 8th 6:30pm-8:30pm

The second is my Mix It Up card Class
I am running this again because some customers missed it before
Sunday September 13th 1:00pm-3:00pm

At the Beach!

I know it has been a month since my last post. It really doesn't feel like it. The Summer is going by so fast. It is hard to believe it is almost August. Right now it is too hot to sit in my craft room and do much of anything other than melt!!! I did make a card for my Mom's Birthday last week. With all the sun and heat I decided to use my Seaside stamp set from Crafty Secrets. I've made this card before. I changed it up a bit this time, mostly in the way I colored it. Also I personalized it a lot more on the inside.

More Guy Cards

I was on a roll with the masculine/boy theme. Here are two more I made last week. I finally used my new stamp set from Local King called "Adventure". I stamped the sailboat and colored it with Prisma Markers and dye inks and aqua brush. The wave was stamped separately, cut out and glued on. The ships wheel stamp in background was stamped with versa mark and embossed with clear fine detail embossing powder. Bazzill card stock admiral & Jacaranda.

The second one is another version of my Dino cards using the Archaic line of paper from Basic Grey. I cut the dino out of the patterned paper covered him with versa mark ink and clear fine detail embossing powder to make him a little stronger. The palm trees were cut out on my cricut. From the Doodlecharms cartridge, I used green and brown card stock for them but I also colored them with my prisma markers as well. Bazzill mud pie card stock for base and twig for greeting. I popped the dino up with pop dots. A tip about the pop dots or 3d dots. I color the sides of them with a prisma maker the same color as the card so that they blend in with your project. That way from the side you don't see bright white 3d dots.

Father's Day Cards

I did manage to get a couple of Father's Day Cards made for my Dad and my Father-In-Law. The first one is for my Dad. I just got the Thoughts of Father set from Stampin' Up. I stamped it with Momento Potter's Clay ink and used stampin' up inks , Tim holtz distress inks and an aqua brush to color it in. The card stock is Old Olive and Bazzill Mud Pie. The green card stock was too plain so I stamped a fern design (stamp from crafty secrets set "wildflowers") with Old Olive ink.
The second card is for my Father-In-Law. I love this lighthouse stamp, It is by Stamps Happen. I colored it in using a variety of techniques, pastels, inks & aqua brush, prismas and gel pen. The patterned paper is by Chatterbox called Light Poolhouse Stripe, card stock is Bazzill Jacaranda and Saguaro.

Summer is here!

It has been so hot and sunny I just couldn't sit in my craft room and make much the past 3 weeks. Last week I bought an extra fan and now I can actually sit in there without melting. I did get a few cards made this week. Hopefully I will get more done later today. I took an extra day off work so I could relax and work on some new class ideas. So before I go off to work on that, I thought I should update my blog.
For the Fairy card I used a stamp from the Fairies set by Crafty Secrets. I colored her with my Prisma Markers, highlighted parts of her wings and flowers with a glitter gel pen. You can't really tell in the picture. The dream stamp is from the Mini Memories set, also by Crafty Secrets. The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Porcelain line. It is from the 6" x 6" paper pack. The edge punch is Fiskars Elegance & I popped the greeting up with 3d dots.
The You Rock card was done using the Rock star set from Inkadinkado. I embossed a piece of black card stock with the Spots & Dots cuttlebug folder and sponged Brilliance Cosmic Copper ink over it. I also sponged the white card stock pieces with the copper ink and then stamped the images with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The greeting is popped up with 3d dots.
