A Cricut Card

I did manage to get another Easter card finished last night and a couple of more started.  Thanks mostly to the fact that I used my cricut mini to cut out some card bases and fronts. I love that there are so many  different cards to use on many of the cartridges.

For this card I cut the base out using the "A Child's Year" cartridge.  It cuts out a cute scalloped edge on the front panel and 3 cute bunnies.  I covered the inside front panel with a piece of brown card stock that was covered with clear double sided tape.  Then I applied brown fun flock to the bunnies and voila! cute fuzzy bunnies.  The patterned paper is from an old basic grey 6x6 paper pad called "sultry".  It had a little too much white in it to go nicely with the french vanilla card base so I sponged some antique linen distress ink on it.  I edged that and the greeting piece with jumbo java versa magic ink and stamped the greeting with rich cocoa memento ink.   The greeting is just one of those $1.50 stamps from M's and I cut the border off of it.  I popped the greeting up on 3d dots and added a few pearls for a little extra detail.  I also covered the inside back panel of the card with matching brown cardstock so that the scallops on the front panel stand out more.

Well I have tons to do today so that's it for now.  I really hope I can spend some time in my craft room tomorrow and maybe have something to post for Monday.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest or the weekend everyone!!!

Another New Stamp

I looked at my collection of stamps a few months ago and realized I don't have very many Easter stamps.  In fact I only have one set of Easter stamps and a few of those single Easter stamps from the M's  $1.50 bin.  I think I need to expand my spring stamp collection.  I just can't seem to find many Easter stamps I really like.  I have been trying to plan ahead for holidays when I do my stamp shopping, but sometimes I just forget.  I'm usually so busy with work in March and April that Easter just sneaks up on me from out of nowhere and before you know it, it's done and over with for another year.  I just can't believe that it is only a week away.

Anyhow long story short I got this cute little bunny stamp several weeks ago (see, I did plan a wee bit) and managed to finally use it this week.  This cute little stamp is Bunny Hansel (CC Designs Swiss Pixies) and I colored him with copic markers ( Y11, Y13, R20, R81, R83, RV11, YR12, YR14, G14, BG0000, E000, E00, E21, E57, N0, N1 & N7).  I have used this layout before but it seems to work well with this stamp.  I have a bunch of this paper from the 3 Bugs in a Rug "Little Chick" collection and I love the colors for srping.  I haven't found much for Easter paper that I really like so I just try and choose bright cheerful patterns for it.  The  greeting is from one of those M's $1.50 stamps (I think there was a chick on the stamp too but I cut it off) and popped it up with 3d dots.  To add a little more detail to this card I used some diamond stickles (love this stuff) to his wings and ears and some clear glaze pen to the paint on his brush.  I decided it needed something more so I stuck a few buttons on.
So I'm doing well using up old patterned paper, inking up stamps that I haven't used yet, using up embellishments I wouldn't normally use and updating my blog.  Now I just have to do it all over again for tomorrow LOL.

Seriously though, my challenge to myself is really helping me use up stuff that I wouldn't normally be using.  Now I just have to spend a couple of evenings in my craft room making Easter cards before it is to late to use them.  Guess I better get to work on that.  Have a great weekend everyone and I'll be back tomorrow with another post.

Just A Note...

about what I'm trying to do right now.  I don't know about anyone else, but I have some brand new stamps that I haven't had a chance to use yet.  So I'm going to try and use some of my new images for projects over the next couple of months.  I don't know how much I'll be able to do but I'm going to try LOL!

I didn't get to spend as much time in my craft room as I wanted today but I did manage to finish one card. For this card I used a stamp I got about a month ago called Drucilla from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps.  I stamped the image on Gina K 120lb base weight paper and colored it with copic markers (E000, 00, 01, 21, 25, 27 - R20, 22, 24, 27, 29 - YG 91, 93, 95 - N0, 1, 3, 5, 7 - 110, 0 and black multiliner).  I also added some shimmer with a red star, silver star & sakura clear stardust pens.  I'm happy with the coloring but not with how I cut it out. I didn't want to waste all that work so I decided to make a card with it anyway.  The patterned paper is from the My Mind's Eye Meadow Lark line and I edged it with barn door distress ink.  I added some buttons and rhinestones (colored with R29) as decoration and the greeting is from the tag lines stamp set by Flourishes.
Well that's it for tonight, have a great weekend everyone.

Happy Spring!!!

Although the weather isn't as warm as I'd like the other signs of spring are certainly all around.  Lots of birds chirping, flowers are blooming and there are tons of blossoms on the trees.  I love this time of year, everything seems so fresh and new and I feel revitalized.

I've been busy doing my spring cleaning, rearranging furniture and getting rid of stuff.  With all that and work I haven't had much time to spend in my craft room this week.  I do hope to be able to get in there tomorrow and get a couple of cards made.

I did get another card finished last week I just haven't had time to post it until now.  For this card I used a digi stamp called "super hero" from Kenny K Stamps.  I colored this image many months ago and I think I used my Prisma Color markers for this one.  The patterned paper for this card is from the Bo Bunny "Blast Off" line.  I used red card stock for the base and I edged the patterned paper with versa magic night sky.  I stamped the greeting ("tag lines" set from Flourishes) with fired brick distress ink.  I'm trying to use up some of my many brads so I picked out 3 that match the colors in the paper.
So far I'm doing well with the new additions I made to my challenge.  I really hope to be able to stick with it over the next few months.  I'll be back tomorrow or Saturday with another project.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great week end everyone.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic St. Patrick's Day, I just got back from the local Pub where my hubby and I had a great dinner of Irish Stew and a pint of Guinness.  What a great way to celebrate the day, especially after a long day at work.  I didn't get any St. Patrick's day cards made this year so I'm going to post another one of the baby cards I made this week (it does have green in it though :).

This is a variation of a card I made last year.  The patterned paper is from the Webster's Paper Lullaby Lane line and the card stock is Stampin Up old olive and bazzill chiffon.  I cut the scalloped circle out using spellbinders dies and the giraffe is cut out using my new Cricut Mini and the Create A Critter cartridge.  The greeting is from stampin up and I stamped it with pear tart memento ink.

I'm being good and digging into my stash of ribbon and pearls for this card as well.  I colored the pearls with copic marker E04.  I also used some offray lemongrass ribbon and twinery honeydew twine.

Well that's it for tonight, I'm going to watch a movie and have a cup of tea.  Have a great week end everyone.

Cute As A Button!

I so very rarely make baby cards but I decided to make a couple this week.  We have a few friends who are expecting this year so I wanted to have a couple of go to designs ready.  I also bought some cute paper and dino stamp set last year with baby cards in mind but again, never got around to using it.  I will definitely be making more of these cards.  I also manage to use some of my new Twinery twine on this card.

The dinosaur, leaf and star stamp are all from a mini stamp set by Hot Off The Press.  I'm sorry I don't know the exact name of the set.  I stamped the dino on Gina K base weight card stock with black memento ink  and colored him with copics (YR21, 23, 24, 31, 14 & E21, 25, 29)  I stamped the leaves and stars with memento pear tart and summer sky (I also added a few of the stars to the patterned paper to tie things together a bit more).  The patterned paper by Little Yellow Bicycle from the Babysaurus line.  I used a random button that matched my color scheme nicely and honeydew twinery twine.  The greeting piece and green mat were cut out using spellbinders large and small labels and popped up with 3d dots. I edged the patterned paper and white paper with versa magic persimmon and stamped the greeting with black memento ink.  The greeting is from one of those 1.50 clear stamp sets from M's.

The angle I took this picture at makes Kit look really funny but oh well.  As you can see she has her but firmly planted on this dino card in progress I am just getting ready to cut out the greeting area with the spellbinders you can see in the photo.  She loves to help me out when I'm working LOL.

Well I guess that's it for tonight, I'll be back tomorrow night with another baby card. Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!!!

Stuffed to the Brim!

That is the state of my craft room....I'm totally not complaining (it isn't all craft stuff LOL) but I do have to start using up more of my supplies.  I have been trying to use up more patterned paper over the last few months.  That is why I started my challenge to myself last November (at least 2 new projects a week using patterned paper).  Well I've managed to keep up with that challenge but now I want to throw some other stuff into the mix.  On at least 1 project a week I will also have to add brads, buttons, ribbon, pearls or flowers (One of these items not all...I still want to be able to fit the card in the envelope LOL)  I'm not adding rhinestones to this list because I use them all the time.  But seriously I have a drawer full of flowers, tons of ribbon, bottles of buttons and several packages of pearls.  I really need to start adding them to my projects.

It really is funny, just like the paper I keep thinking "Oh do I really want to use this up on this project...maybe I should save it for something special"  which never really comes along and then the stuff keeps sitting in the drawers waiting.  Oh and I need to ink up a bunch of my new stamps and use as well.

Anyhow for today's card I used an image I had already colored a long time ago.  I apologize I really don't know where the image is from or what colors I used for it.  I have a bunch of digis and stamped that I did at a crop over a year ago and I also borrowed some stamps from friends.  I do know that I used prisma color markers on this image.  A couple of weeks ago I got a new stamp set called Celebration Pennants from Whimsy Stamps and I used the "get well soon" stamp and black memento ink to add the greeting.  I also colored over the entire fish bowl with a clear glaze pen.  Now I could have used glossy accents for that but I have a real problem with air bubbles every time I attempt that (so now I just use that on really small areas LOL).  The patterned paper is a from the Cosmo Cricket line Snorkel (which is from 2009 - or so the date says on the bottom of the paper) and I used both sides of the same paper on this card.  I used a corner rounder on the image and mat and edged the various papers with a variety of versa magic inks persimmon, pumpkin spice, tea leaves & aspen mist.  I popped the image up on 3d dots and added the buttons with glue dots.
OK it is getting late especially since I have to set the clock ahead an hour tonight.  I hope to have another project to post by Monday.  Until then have a great Sunday and happy crafting everyone!

A New Toy!!!!

Remember how I happen to mention every now and then that I have the most wonderful husband!!!!  Well this is one of those times where I'm going to say it again!  I have the most wonderful hubby!!!  The other day he came home with a present for me (for no particular reason) and here is what he bought me!

The Cricut Mini

I was so happy and totally planned on posting about this new gadget right away but I got carried away setting it all up and cutting out all kinds of goodies for cards.  Also he bought me 4 new cartridges the previous week (Superman, Batman & 2 Disney ones), so I've been having tons of fun with those and forgot to post.  Not to worry though, even though it has been over a week since my last post I still have tonight and tomorrow to post and still stick to my challenge.

I must say I am getting to be a bit of a cricut junkie LOL, I now have 3 (original, create & mini) machines & the gypsy.  I love the larger cutting area of the Mini and that I can do everything on the computer.

Anyhow I did manage to get a couple of cards made over last weekend and here they are.  They are 2 quick and easy cards for little boys.  I cut the images out using the cricut and the Life's A Party cartridge.  This was done prior to me getting my new Mini so I cut these out on the Create machine.  The patterned paper is from the Bo Bunny "Blast Off" collection.  This particular paper is called Galaxy and I thought it was a good choice for the little alien in a spaceship.  Since I had to cut out some of the pieces twice in alternating colors I decided to make 2 cards.

The greeting for this card is done with a $1.50 stamp from Michael's and the greeting for the card below is done with a stamp from Kaiser Craft.  I colored the rhinestones with R89 and B39 and I inked the edges of the patterned paper and the greeting with night sky versa magic chalk ink.  Of course the ships are adhered to the card with 3d dots.

Well I better go make a couple more cards and finish packing up for the class I'm teaching tomorrow.  Have a good night all and I'll have another post tomorrow at some point.  Until then happy crafting everyone!
